Powers: First of the Russian super-soldiers, Omega's mutant power is to release a death-spore virus that can kill across a moderate distance. He was outfitted with carbonadium (a malleable form of adamantium) coils that extrude from his forearms and are fully prehensile.
Background: Arkady Rossovich was the first of Russia's super-soldier program, which was a combination of the programs that had produced both Captain America and Wolverine, and deeply loved the Soviet Union. When the U.S.S.R. collapsed, Omega Red held Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, and the other products of Weapon X responsible, and vowed vengeance.

When Hydra approached him and offered him the chance to bring down the Weapon X mutants, Omega Red jumped at the chance. One of his first missions, along with Gauntlet, was to capture Wolverine and use him as bait for his clone, X-23. Once they tracked Wolverine to X-23, Omega Red and Gauntlet kept the two pinned down under a barrage of fire until Gauntlet was able to use a sonic blaster to subdue them, just after X-23 said that she had wanted to get caught. Wolverine was turned over to Omega Red, who told Logan that he intended to take out his revenge against all of the Weapon X mutants, and then attacked him. Logan's training didn't fail him, and he was able to bring Omega Red down when he tricked the supersoldier into sending one of his tentacles right into an electric conduit. After X-23 apparently sacrificed herself in order to stop Hydra's operations, blowing up their base, Omega Red was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.
