Blob

Real Name: Fred J. Dukes
Origin: Somewhere in the Midwest
Affiliation: Brotherhood
Powers: Maintains an extreme weight, can manipulate his own gravity allowing him to stay in place, as long as he is touching the ground.
Background: Fred Dukes spent his entire life being made fun of due to his extreme weight. When he found out he was a mutant, things only worsened, thought he was able to make money at Midewestern tractor pulls by holding two tractors in place while they ran at full speed. It was at one such event that the X-Men approached Dukes to join them, and offer he only accepted because he thought he found a friend in the X-Man Jean Grey. Soon, he grew an extreme crush on the red-haired beauty. When she rejected his affections, as politely as she could, he grew enraged, kidnapping her, and leading to a small skirmish with the X-Men, and even the then-Brotherhood member, Rogue. Dukes was subdued, and in his anger and his shame, was quickly recruited into the Brotherhood by Mystique, taking the name of Blob. Now, Blob strives for acceptance within the Brotherhood, never completely sure than he truly fits in.

In the "" fiasco, Blob was one of the mutants frozen in some form of paralysis gel, along with Beast, Rogue, and Spyke, and then left behind by the departing X-Men/Brotherhood team.

The next day, known as the "Day of Recovery," he and the rest of the group were rescued by Mystique and the still-combined X-Men/Brotherhood team. After Blob, Avalanche, and Toad almost failed in their rescue of Quicksilver, Magneto, through the use of Gambit, placed his son at the head of the Brotherhood, much to the chagrin of Avalanche, who had been the leader of the group to that point, when Mystique was not around, of course. Soon after the apparent death of Magneto, a typical argument between Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch on a subway lead to a large wreck. In an attempt to save their own skins, the Brotherhood also saved many on the train, and were soon considered heroes. The Brotherhood, under the guidance of Quicksilver, began staging accidents and rescuing people. Though they portrayed mutants as good people, the X-Men still suspected they were behind the accidents, especially Cyclops and Jean. At the same time, Principal Kelly began his run for mayor of Bayville, on an anti-mutant platform. The Brotherhood attempted to strongarm him, but the X-Men ran them off. Kelly wasn't impressed, and vowed to continue his platform, and walked away from the X-Men. Afterwords, the Brotherhood staged and solved another accident, pinning it on the X-Men through Scarlet Witch's clever use of her powers. With the X-Men in jail, Quicksilver decided to stage one more, gigantic accident, which the Brotherhood could not control, and the X-Men were released to stop the devastation. Though they tried their best, they still needed Avalanche's help to stop the accident from doing too much damage, after which he promised they were out of the hero business, permanently.
