Background: The student known as "Arcade" is a master computer programmer and video game freak, hence the nickname. However, sometimes his games are so complex that they crash the computers he works on. Risty Wilde met Arcade on one such occasion in computer class, and cheered him on, praising his skills even after the teacher shut off the PC. Later, Risty invited Arcade to a party thrown by Rogue while Professor Xavier was away fixing the Juggernaut's stasis tank. Promising him the ultimate game, Risty took Arcade into the Cerebro computer room. Arcade began running through Cerebro's data banks quickly, downloading the New Mutants roster for Risty, thinking it was only a list of characters in a game. After this, Risty snuck away while Arcade began running the Danger Room, and used the school's security systems to attack the X-Men. All the while, Arcade thought the entire thing was just some elaborate computer game. The X-Men were able to stop Arcade before any permanent damage could be done, and upon his return, Professor Xavier made sure that Arcade only thought it was a game, and sent him on his way. Though Arcade thinks he only played a great game, he'll never know how he may have endangered the latest recruits to the X-Men.
