Part of the Civil War X-Over
Synopsis & Review by RachelGrey: Outnumbered, weakened, and faced with a horde of Hell’s demons, Doom stood and fought when a flash of light appeared and scared away the demons. The light then showed the last battle of the Norse Gods: Ragnarok. Doom then spotted an object that was tearing through the dimensional plane and jumped after it and discovered the cause: The Hammer of Thor. Doom tried to reach it, but failed. However, he did end up back on Earth. Doom then returned to Castle Doom in Latveria and retook control, killing one of his government officials, and began searching for the Hammer. Doom decides not to tell the Fantastic Four how he got out. He has bigger things to do, like claim the Hammer. Doom leaves his Doombots to occupy the Fantastic Four. Sue holds the Doombots off while Reed throws The Thing to Doom and tells him to stop Doom no matter what. Ben and Victor fight as the other three Fantastic Four members finish off the Doombots. Doom then blinds The Things and grabs the Hammer. The site erupts with a brilliant flash of light. Reed, Sue, and Johnny get up and look down into the crater to find the Ben. He’s alright but wonders where Doom is. He turns to find his answer. Doom sits by the Hammer, unable to pick it up. With that, Doom leaves, saying the Hammer can be Thor’s tombstone. Reed wonders about what Doom said and wonders if that flash of light was a signal of some kind as The Thing tries in vain to pick up the Hammer. Elsewhere, a mysterious man with the initials D. B. buys a one-way ticket to Oklahoma… Review: OK…this wasn’t much better. Doom’s fight in Hell was fun, but went on a little long for a flashback. The fight with The Thing was boring. I was sad Doom didn’t get the Hammer. I’m a Doom fan so I cheer for Doom and his successes. The highlight is the last part where the mysterious man prepares to go to Oklahoma. We can assume this is the new Thor. I do not like Thor at all. I’ve never liked him. I like the Marvel Universe the way it is now. No Thor. So this issue doesn’t make me happy, although I knew it would come eventually. It still wasn’t’ a horribly interesting issue. The art was like last issue. Boring and bland. Honestly, this whole arc was a waste of time and money. It only loosely ties into Civil War. I don’t expect Thor’s return to be too big in Civil War. Like… Captain America: I’m right! Iron Man: No, I’m right! New Thor: Hark! I have returned! Captain America and Iron Man: WTF??? This whole arc has been a disappointment. Nothing really happened. And it was dragged out into two issues. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy these issues. Save yourself the cash lol.
