Magneto, still alive after the fall of Asteroid "M," offers all mutants a safe-haven in the space-station of Avalon. After disrupting the memorial service of Illyana Rasputin, and taking her brother Colossus to join him among the Acolytes, Magneto's asylum is attacked by a team of X-Men. The master of magnetism succeeds in defeating Wolverine, and almost kills him by ripping his adamantium skeleton from his body. Professor Xavier counters by erasing Magneto's mind and leaving him a vegetable. Wolverine, not the same man he once was, leaves the X-Men. Colossus chooses to remain faithful to Magneto, and remain an Acolyte.
