THREE SHORT STORIES

Gods and Monsters: Magneto's dream of a separate land for mutants succeeds, but at what price for himself and the world?
This was written for the OTL Storytellers' Challenge. I guess the idea came about to me during a discussion a month or two ago on another mailing-list about whose dream was more likely to succeed, Magneto's or Xavier's. I argued that Magneto's was because it was realistic, as opposed to Xavier's utopian fantasy. However, this story turned out to be about qualified success. A pyrrhic victory. Both god and monster; white knight and dragon; Magnus acheived peace, and the recognition as savior he craved, but it was at the cost of human life. At the cost of the world.
DISCLAIMER:
This fanfiction is in no way associated with the Oscar-winning film, 'Gods and Monsters'. All the characters belong to Marvel, except Anna, Luna's grand-daughter, who is mine. I am not making a profit from this piece of writing, so suing me would be futile. Feedback is always welcomed at brucepat@iafrica.com as well as requests for archiving. If you have carte blanche from me, go ahead. If not, please ask; I have yet to say 'no'. :)

The Magician and the Butterfly: When a circus comes to town, it brings magic into the life of an unhappy housewife.

Spring: When Colossus loses his right hand, he discovers the nature of pain and catharsis.
This was written in response to the Disability Challenge so it is, by nature, rather morbid. :) It was also the result of my New Year's resolution to branch out into other characters and styles, so absolutely no Remy\Rogue romance in this one. ;) In fact, I don't think they're in the story. Anyway, enjoy.

The Magician and the Butterfly was a great story!!! I loved it, though I got confused on some parts. Great story, I really recommend this one.

From Jay Edwards, 7/31/00:
Hey, i just finished reading "Spring." I thought it was great. You captured Piotr perfectly. The pity he craves from himself in that situation was great. But more so the feeling that he needs to know that he is loved was better. Your pick of Storm to give him that was perfect. Not many people remember that Storm, not Kitty was Piotr's first crush.

From kris w, 5/20/00:
