Part 6 of "Fatal Attractions"

Summary by Eben Rackland:
On Muir Isle, Nightcrawler battles Spoor, the Acolyte with a death wish. Kurt is furious over the Acolytes' mass murder of civilians (X-Factor #92) and soundly beats the Acolyte. Excalibur captures Spoor, and brings him back to Dr. MacTaggert’s psychiatric ward. Many of her patients had escaped after Magneto’s electromagnetic pulse shut off power to the world (X-Men #25).

At this point, Professor Xavier, Cyclops, and Jean Grey appear out of a Blackbird jet. The Professor tells Kitty Pryde that they need her to set Colossus up in order to bring the Russian back to the X-Men. Xavier wants to cure Colossus’s head trauma (X-Men Annual #17) in hopes that it will make him realize that joining the Acolytes was unwise. Shadowcat contacts Colossus aboard Avalon, telling him that she wants to join the Acolytes, and she’ll be waiting for him on Muir Isle, alone. Exodus, now leading the Acolytes, grants Piotr one hour’s leave, for a final goodbye to the world he was once a part of.

Cable has learned that Colossus is on his way, and teleports somewhere in the vicinity of Muir Isle. Inside the Muir Isle research facility, Nightcrawler and Cyclops discuss the status of the Excalibur team; Kurt is displeased that so many team members have recently left, but Cyclops assures him that he’s an excellent leader and that the team will stay strong. Outside, Jean Grey and Rachel Summers (Phoenix) talk about their odd relationship. Jean also hints to Rachel that she is going to ask Cyclops to marry her.

Colossus teleports down from Avalon, presuming that Kitty will accompany him back to the space station… Meanwhile, Cable is on the other side of the island, scaling the side of a cliff, and thirsty for revenge against the Acolytes (X-Force #25) He is met by Phoenix, and a battle appears to be imminent. Colossus and Shadowcat talk, and Piotr begins to realize that Kitty is not going to come back with him. She phases Colossus so that he can’t leave, giving Cyclops and Nightcrawler the opportunity to come in and restrain him.

Cable attacks Phoenix, and tries to bury her under a few tons of rocks. Rachel uses her powers to propel herself 10 seconds into the future, and avoid the attack. Cable wonders how Rachel can telepathically read his thoughts, since his mind is untouchable by telepaths in this given timeline. In the Muir Isle lab, Cyclops uses his optic blast to correct Colossus's head trauma, a process that requires Shadowcat to partially phase Colossus so that his armor is bendable.

During the process, the Acolyte Voght’s power signature is recorded, and Nightcrawler teleports outside to investigate. After psionically knocking out Cable, Phoenix realizes that she has some sort of bond with the time traveling leader of X-Force. The sentient program called the Professor assures her there is, but tells her it can wait until another day to be explained. Phoenix telepathically picks up Nightcrawler’s thoughts, and goes to help him battle Voght and the Acolytes she brought with her.

The surgical procedure on Colossus succeeds, and as he regains consciousness, he speaks to Kitty of how he failed Illyana, and that he wasn’t there when she needed him. Outside, Nightcrawler engages Voght, as well as two other Acolytes: Unuscione and Katu. Phoenix and Cyclops show up to aid Kurt, but before the skirmish turns into a serious altercation, Colossus, in his human form, tells Voght to stop the battle. He says he’ll return with Acolytes to Avalon, because he thinks he can make a difference.

As Cyclops, Jean and Xavier leave, they offer to drop off Excalibur at their base in England on the way. Nightcrawler refuses, saying that Excalibur will now work out of Muir Isle, with Moira MacTaggert. Kurt and his team choose to do their part by helping the world, and not fighting its villains.
