Codename Etymology: Pronounced ĕm'plāt [From Latin, in-: "in" + Greek, platus]; To cover with plates.
Powers: Emplate can drain another mutant's powers and use them himself. In doing so he also takes on some of their attributes, as he did with Penance. He appears to have some psionic abilities which allow him to know general things about his victims, whom he drains with a mouth on his palm. Emplate can make other people energy-vampires like himself, with the same type of feeder mouth, as he did with Synch and with his new Hellions. It seems that he is the forbearer of the 'Emplates that killed Shard 100 years in the future. Emplate can also teleport via the alternate dimension in which he appears to be trapped. It is now known that Emplate actually created the form of Penance as a prison for his sister Monet when she refused to join him in his vampiric ways. In one attempt to get to the awesome power of the mutants in Generation X, specifically Chamber, Emplate gathered a new team of Hellions, each equipped with a feeder mouth, which apparently disbanded after the attack failed. Emplate also got involved with the Universal Amalgamator and was actually merged with Monet into the being called M-Plate, who was subsequently dissociated by Dirt Nap. He next attacked the Gen X kids in an attempt to divert their attention while his new lackeys abducted Penance. He managed to convert half the team before Synch copied Jubilee's power and blew up Proudstar Hall. That knocked Emplate out and freed the kids of his influence. Weakened and in serious condition, Emplate is now being treated in the infirmary of the Massachussetts Academy.
