Real Name: UncertainHowever, it is clear that Doop is not the lovable little "Slimer" that he appears to be. In fact, Doop is often called in as the literal "hatchet man" when an unstable and dangerous mutant known as a "Code X" is identified. On one such occasion, Doop went on a camping trip with X-Statix wannabe Corkscrew, then antagonized him and subtly built up his anxiety levels until he exploded in a violent rampage, whereupon Doop killed him and buried his body parts in the woods. Later, an experience with the Pink Mink made Doop think that his old buddy Wolverine had been Code X'd as well. However, Wolverine thought that Doop was Code X'd. Soon it was revealed that the Pink Lady, owner of the Pink Mink, was causing reality to warp based on both their thoughts and desires, and together Doop and Wolverine saved the Pink Lady from a "Hunter Joe," whereupon Doop appears to have been intimate with the Mink, resulting in twin Pink Minks. Doop also killed Hunter Joe and mounted his head on the wall.
Some time later, the Avengers expressed concern that Doop was a dangerous entity and should not be left in X-Statix's hands. He was then promptly kidnaped by Russian terrorists who extracted his green brain and attached it to a massive electrical apparatus, turning it into a laser-like superweapon. The "brain ray" was capable of fending off X-Statix and most of the Avengers, but was eventually slammed by Thor's hammer Mjolnir, causing the brain to explode. Pieces of Doop's brain flew all over the world, prompting a scavenger hunt of sorts between X-Statix and the Avengers, with the winner to keep Doop. After some inane battling, most of Doop's brain was recovered by the Avengers, but Doop woke up and fought Thor in Asgard for the final piece. When Orphan offered to let the Avengers care for and monitor Doop, Captain America let Doop's teammates keep custody of him.
Shortly afterward, X-Statix's last mission ended in an apparent bloodbath for the team, and even Doop was seen blown apart on the floor. He is presumed deceased, but with his unique physiology, anything is possible.
