Kavita worked tirelessly and finally perfected the cure and, calling it Hope, she announced its existence to the world, to the joys of many mutants, but also the chagrin of many others, mainly most of the X-Men. However, Beast came to her one night, wanting to know if the cure really worked, possibly to use on himself. She gave him a sample, much to the annoyance of Ord and the other X-Men, for him to study, but he made a grave discovery that she was using DNA of a deceased teammate of theirs, and the X-Men went to the labs to confront her and possibly destroy the cure. She defended her actions to then until Ord attacked, but was defeated by a freed Colossus. When Nick Fury and Agent Brand arrived to stop the fighting, Ord escaped and kidnapped a young girl who was to be the first to voluntarily take the cure, and tried to leave in his ship. Kavita begged the X-Men to save the girl, and Wolverine stopped Ord, but he had destroyed the labs and all the cure samples within it. However, Kavita was able to send her research to various other labs around the country, and is believed to still be working with it.
