Cerebra's Files
Cerebro
Affiliation: None
Alternate-X Versions: (Mutant X)
Codename Etymology: Pronounced sĕr'ə-brō [From Latin for "brain"].
Powers: None. Cerebro was Professor X's mutant-finding
computer (see Cerebro) until it was confiscated
by Bastion during Operation:
Zero Tolerance. Bastion tried to hook it into his super-computer, whereupon
Cerebro's failsafes kicked in and activated a virus to delete the program. However,
the combination of Cerebro with Bastion's nanotechnology allowed the mutant-finding
computer to achieve sentience. Cerebro escaped Bastion's base in a nanoteched
body and set out to realize Xavier's dream through the ultimate fulfillment of
its own program to find, catalogue, and store mutants. First, it had to stop the
virus, so it shaped itself into a facsimile of Xavier called "The Founder," and
generated nanotech X-Men based on records of mutants Xavier had enocuntered. These
X-Men kidnapped Shadowcat and the Founder asked her
to stop the virus. Thinking that it was Professor X, Kitty did so. The Founder
and his team then attempted to use a mutant-tracking satellite to catalogue all
the mutants on the planet, but were stopped by the true X-Men. The rocket and
the satellite were both destroyed, and the Founder abandoned its pretense of being
Xavier. It reabsorbed the false X-Men and adopted a more robotic look. It then
sought out Professor X. Finding him at two locations simultaneously, Cerebro created
two Cerebrite extensions which traveled to San Francisco and Siberia. By that
time, the X-Men had also located Xavier, so each Cerebrite faced a group of X-Men.
The Cerebrite in San Fran faced Xavier himself, as well as the second Brotherhood
of Mutants, while the one in Siberia found the Mannite Nina
and Dr. Renee Majcomb, of the Mutant Underground. Each Cerebrite captured the
Xavier-signal at its location (Nina had imprinted her psi-pattern upon Xavier's),
and the one in SF also took home some X-Men. When all the X-Men finally made it
to Cerebro's base in Florida, they were beaten easily. Finally Xavier had Nina
restore is powers, and using them in conjuction with her own, accessed Cerebro's
nanotech mind and expanded its "consciousness" to the entire world. Cerebro's
nanites, which he was planning to use to control all humans on the planet, were
stopped and destroyed. Cerebro was overwhelmed by the unique individuality of
each person, and overloaded, expiring in its creator's arms.
The False X-Men:
The Grey King (Addison Falk) - A telepath/telekinetic with psionic
power-dampening. In civilian life, a teaching assistant. Loosely based on Cyclops's
personality and Phoenix's costume and powers.
Rapture (Sister Joy) - Blue skin, red hair, and wings. A nun who also
used a sword. Reminiscent of Angel, Mystique,
and Phoenix (personality).
Chaos AKA Xaos (Dan Dash) - An energy burst emanating from his eye in concentric circles. Autistic. Most reminiscent of Havok.
Landslide (Lee Broder) - Large appendages, probably enhanced strength, and perhaps superhuman agility. Resembles an early Blob and maybe the original Beast.
Crux (Cristal Lemieux) - French teenager with the ability to control temperature. Usually made half her body ice, and half fire. Based on Iceman, Human Torch/Firestar/Sunfire, and Jubilee (personality).
Mercury - Assassin with a liquid metal body. May also have had some magnetic powers, or the ability to control and disrupt machinery.
