The son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor (Sinister's clone of Jean Grey), the infant Cable was infected by Apocalypse with a techno-organic virus. To save his life, Cable was sent two thousand years into the future into the care of the Askani. There he grew up, under the protection of his foster parents, Slym and Redd (Scott and Jean), defeated Apocalypse and founded the Clan Chosen. Following his evil clone Stryfe, Cable returned to the era of his birth to lead first the Six Pack, then the New Mutants, and lastly, X-Force. One of the most powerful mutants in existence, Cable's mutant powers were long held in check by the intense effort required to control his techno-virus. Though Cable recently joined the X-Men, a sudden assault by the mysterious Dark Sisterhood forced Cable to go underground, pushing his power to new and uncharted levels. Following his victory, Cable struck out on his own, on a mission to prevent a future of chaos by attacking it in the present.
