Codename Etymology: Pronounced blĭng [slang term, derived from the emphatic “bling bling,” for the imaginary sound that results from light hitting a diamond.
Powers & History: Bling! has a purplish crystallized rock body, giving her enhanced strength and endurance. Her bone marrow also produces diamond shards which she can expel from her body at high speeds making a “Bling!” sound as it happens.
The daughter of two rap stars, Roxy had appeared in several of their videos and grew up the target of would-be kidnappers and assassins. Destined to follow in her parent’s footsteps, Roxy got out of that life and enrolled at the Xavier Institute with the manifestation of her mutant powers.
She was placed under the tutelage of Gambit and quickly immersed herself in her studies and the betterment of controlling her powers. This became apparent when a possible trouble maker, Foxx, arrived at the school and was placed on the same squad. Bling confronted her about this because she did not want her future screwed up because of someone else, and her worries were later proven when Foxx turned out to be Mystique in disguise. During this time, Roxy also admitted to being a lesbian.
After M-Day, Bling still remains at the Xavier Institute as one of the few students left to have kept her powers. Interestingly, while she was not selected for training as a "New X-Man," she did accompany Havok's squad when it infiltrated Apocalypse's sphinx ship.
