"Magnetic North, Part 1" Synopsis: Wolverine and Xavier have their inevitable conversation about the events of the recent encounter Wolverine and Storm had with Lady Deathstrike in Alberta, Canada. Wolverine reveals that he didn't kill her like one might imagine, he instead called in a favor to Nick Fury to come and take her into custody. She's currently being held prisoner in the Triskelion. Just then outside of Xavier's office an enraged Kitty Pryde is storming down the halls trying to find Bobby Drake. She phases through the floor into a Danger Room training simulation. She confronts Bobby about the fact that he is communicating via e-mail with his ex-girlfriend Rogue, and to make it worse he still has feelings for her. Iceman is icked off that she hacked into his e-mail account, but it was he who accidentally copied her on the email. Duh! Just then Kitty decides their relationship is over and informs Iceman, then she punches him in the chest - hard. Cyclops tries to break them up over the mike, and states that he's sick of their crap. Cyclops and Marvel Girl have a conversation up in the Danger Room Control Center about relationships. Marvel Girl pries and Cyclops admits he's dated one girl before her. Switch to Chicago, Illinois. Lorna Dane/Polaris is giving Roberto DaCosta/Sunspot a tour of the campus he's soon introduced to her boyfriend Alex Summers/Havok. We are then introduced to Emma Frost the head of the school. However during his introduction an emergency occurs and Havok, Polaris, and Northstar are sent to deal with it. Sunspot wants to go with and trys to convince Emma to let him go with them, however she denies his request. Havok, Polaris, and Northstar land in downtown to a burning building. Polaris is the first to help, however her powers start going out of wack, and she ends up kill all the firefighters and some pedestrians standing by. Havok has no choice and he blasts her with his energy blasts to knock her out. He then commands Northstar to get Ms. Frost. Just then about 20,000 feet above Genosha, Commander Dugan contacts Nick Fury to tell him about the current situation in Chicago. Nick and Dugan agree that Polaris needs to be locked up, however there is only one kind of cell on the face of the earth that can hold her, and it's sort of occupied. We then cut to the prisoner who's currently occupying the cell, it's the one and only Magneto. Review: I found the issue to be fairly intriguing, I really starting to grasp Brian K. Vaughan's overall story and I'm enjoying quite a bit. Magnetic North's start proves this arc will be something to talk about in the coming months. I really enjoyed the cameos by Sunspot and Northstar, it was kind of nerdlinger moment for X-Man fans however it was quite nice non the less. Stuart Immonen produced some of his best work on the series thus far in this issue. His final page in the issue with the Magneto close up wear the master of magnetism is playing chess by himself is extremely well done. This issue is a really good start for the arc, and it'll make you want the next issue, however it won't come for another 30 days.
