Synopsis & Review by Nick Summers: Thanks!
Synopsis: Wolverine cuts his way through a giant test tube and screams and coughs a lot, with his claws open. A bystander apologizes very much to Logan. It's Xavier, and he apologizes for forcing Logan's mind into this and sorry for being in his mind at all, as he knows this memory is quite upsetting. But, Xavier also explains, with him not just coming to Xavier by his own free will at all, he went ahead and started without him. Xavier also says he wouldn't be doing this if Logan's actions didn't might affect the X-Men, but he isn't sure about that just yet. Logan can't believe this isn't Weapon X, but Xavier explains this is just his memory of it, and this being the exact moment Logan found out that he had become the unwilling victim of the experiment that gave him his unbreakable skeleton and extendable claws. Now, thanks to the mind-wipe Weapon X subjected him to, this is Logan's first memory and the rest of it is pretty awful, Xavier finds. So, Xavier took the liberty of separating out all the bad memories so they can focus on what they need to focus on. Xavier also explains he already skimmed through Logan's memories of the last couple of days. He surmised that this woman, these soldiers that keep attacking him, have access to his Weapon X file and that is how they are tracking him. Also, they seemed rather put out that he didn't know who they were, he thought a little trip back to Weapon X might reveal something. Xavier then asks who else Logan recognizes besides him in the room, and takes a look at John Wraith.

Xavier explains Wraith will go down in history as the warden of the first mutant concentration camp, and for that he hopes he rots in a hell more horrible than he has the imagination to conjure. Xavier says they naturally focus all their attention to Wraith now, and then asks who Logan also sees. He then takes another look at Wraith again, who prepaires his gun and points it towards Logan and Xavier can only watch in horror. Logan notices Tara (the woman that hunts him down the last coupla ishs) and then all of shooting begins, and Logan gets flashbacks from the last coupla days and Xavier tries to get Logan to himself again, but Logan just screams and yells, not knowing where he is. They then go back to reality, where Logan lies in a bed and Xavier guarding him. Xavier again apologizes, and Logan reclaims he got in his head pretty good, thinking he couldn't do that. Xavier explains Logan's Weapon X training and the government mind-wipe did something yes, but Xavier has been sitting here with Logan for over 12 hours now, and he has quite a headache now himself. But, they have what they need and it seems his attackers are in fact decomissioned Weapon X soldiers. Xavier and Logan then wonder why they would assign to something as inhumane as Weapon X, soldiers trained for nothing but dealing with Wolverine, trained to do nothing but hate him? Wolverine says he doesn't understand either and apologizes. Xavier then says he also doesn't understand something else: Logan agreed to come back here, to be part of the X-Men again, Cyclops himself came and got him, but the next morning, Logan was already gone again. Why?

Logan then is quite for a while, but then says they can all says they want him back, but he can sense all their hate, what they all really think of him. And, Logan says he doesn't disagree. So, he did the team a favor and just took off. Xavier stare for a while, saying nothing, and that Logan is welcome here, but the rest of them are children and he'll need to earn their trust and respect. Xavier then says he'll make a call now on Logan's behalf, and Logan should go get something to eat. Logan goes, and calls up Nick Fury. Fury says if what Charles is saying is true, they'll take care of it. Xavier asks why would he be lying, Fury explains they'll have to pull the "national security" card on Charles. But, Fury says, Weapon X was the baddest of the bad and they were living and breathing the orders of John Wraith, and he was a hell of a leader and had some damn loyal soldiers. Fury says they decommissioned them and sent most of them out to pasture, out in the cold, but not until a complete psych evaluation was done. They then must do something to pull themselves out of SHIELD psych, Xavier says he immediately wants to do something about it, but Fury says the X-Men are a peacekeeping task force, not military police, Fury and SHIELD will take care of it and Xavier will have to sit this one out. Xavier also says he doesn't appreciate the psychic shields Fury has placed around the school. Fury says he doesn't appriciate it Xavier found them, but also says considering the items Xavier discribed for him, he can't let Xavier interfere, and if Xavier can't control Logan, he'll do it for him. Fury goes out and promises to keep Xavier updated. He shuts off, and Xavier stares at his screen, thinking in himelf.

Logan then goes over to the dinner room, where all the X-Men (WITH Rogue!) all sit, and stare in silence as he walks into the room, especially Scott and Jean. Logan then grabs something and goes outside, and sits alone on a wall. After a while, Jean comes flying over and asks if he has got something to say to her, but Logan just says she's the mind reader, so pick up a thought and enjoy it. They then stare a while at each other, and Jean explains she'll never forget or forgive what he did, trying to kill the man she loves! And Logan agrees. Jean then threatens if Logan does something like that again, or has any romantic thoughts about her ever again, she'll make his heart stop and kill him herself. Logan better earns his second... she can't finish her sentence and then stares at the sky, and flies up. Wolverine asks what's up, and Jean says something is there and before Logan can asks to go get the others, she flies up the sky, real high. Then, a helicopter with the guards in that attacked Logan before are above the Institute and talk to their commander about what to do, and then pick Jean up on their radar. Jean then gets angry, and with just watching at them, she lets the Phoenix force kill the entire 'copter! The Phoenix effect then goes away and Jean falls down, with Logan watching it all in fear. Xavier then senses it too, and fears the worst.

Review: Well, it's about time! Finally, the other X-Men appear in Bendis' story, that was up untill now rather disapointing. Though the appearances of Spider-Man, Daredevil and Black Widow were fun and appriciated, but they didn't really fit in this title and were better left out. The only character that made sense was the Widow, for her having a former relationship with Wolverine but not for the rest. OK, DD and Spidey also make sense for appearing, but the fight could have easily been in other parts of New York.

But the story now finally gets somewhere, finally, Xavier enters Logans mind, something he should have done earlier before, but at least he now does it. I hope we get to learn more about Logan's past, so this gets explaind at least in this title with some decense, because his 616 version just isn't anything, but hopefully here in the Ultimate universe it will be. There were some great plots in this issue and finally they deal with plots from the past, something I feared that they might become forgotten now that Bendis was on board. But, I've been proven wrong and I'm happy I was. I appriciate Nick Fury's appearance too, after all SHIELD and the X-Men are working together now, that what I came to conclusion after #33. But I wonder how Xavier will act now that he's been ordered not to interfere anymore.

Aha, finally, we learn that Rogue too is on the team,at least in the school. That's great, but then why wasn't she on the teamshot last ish? Eh, not so bad, at least she'll be in the comic for the near future. Looks like the Phoenix force isn't away either and Thor was right. What will become of this? Hopefully, Jean doesn't die or anything, I like her.

It's also noticable that they've worked on the colors in this issue: with that they were a lot more darker in previous issues, they are a lot brighter here and that's the way I like it. They can be like this in the future, but of course should be taken care by situation of course. You don't make a dark place light, if you know what I mean. In short, the story finally gets better, pheeeew!

(Oh and yes, this is part 5 of Blockbuster dispite what the cover says, it's a Marvel typefault!)
