Synopsis: The Wasp questions Professor Grey, Jean's father, on the whereabouts of the X-Men. Mr. Grey knows that his daughter is in hiding, and refuses to tell the Ultimates anything. Also, he scoffs at the idea that Xavier is on Magneto's side and assures them that the X-Men are working just as hard as the Ultimates to bring down Magneto. He knew Mags was being kept alive, and agreed with Xavier's decision considering the alternative. As S.H.I.E.L.D. psychics try to pry the location of Xavier's base from Grey's head, Grey laughs at them saying that he doesn't know and to go away. At Pier 88 in New York City, the X-Men are in hiding. Xavier speaks with Moira, hoping that her patients survived the transfter from Muir Island to Glasgow. Cyclops, Wolverine, and Kitty still are not back from the Savage Land mission and the rest of the team are on short tempers. Beast is working to make their safehouse have at least some technological decency and yells at Ororo for not bringing a needed part from the store. Storm responds that it's all Beast's fault that they're in hiding anyways since it was he who told the Brotherhood that Magneto was alive. Jean comes to Beast's aid, but Storm lays into her too because of the whole Phoenix episode. Luckily before the fight can escalate, the Blackbird from the Savage Land comes back. Everyone is glad that the team is back together, but Cyclops is not on board. Wolverine offers his apologies to Jean, saying that there was an avalanche and Cyclops was buried beneath it. Kitty affirms that Scott is dead. At the Triskelion, Cap recognizes Wolverine's picture as Jim Howlett, a soldier he knew from the war. He just always thought he was lucky in war, not realizing it was his mutant factor that prevented him from dying or aging. After Quicksilver gets everyone drinks, Cap outlines the battle plan... find the X-Men, find the Brotherhood, and stop more terrorist attacks. Stark International is working on a new Cerebro that will be able to find any mutant on the planet, but its not ready until the end of the month. The Brotherhood bases that Wanda and Pietro told the Ultimates about were abandoned, and the Maximoffs say they don't think Magneto ever trusted them. Suddenly, the lights go out. The generator lights come up, and a technician mocks Bruce Banner that he missed his only chance to slip away. The generator lights turn off just as quickly, and Cap tells Thor, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch to get ready, while the non-super-powered humans should stay out of harm's way. Magneto storms into the room and scoffs at Captain America's "discus" that he throws, using his powers to pin Cap to the wall with the shield. Thor tries his hammer, and Magneto expresses his disappointment that Thor of all people would be helping the United States government. Wanda and Pietro are frozen and Magneto turns to them. Pietro thinks Mags is mad because he betrayed him, but actually Magneto thought that was a admirable dispaly of strength. He is angry because Quicksilver turned the Brotherhood into politically correct shadow of its former self. Wanda begs Magneto to punish her, not him, but the master of magnetism ignores her and shoots Pietro (in the leg it looks like). Magneto leaves the Triskelion, but not before erasing all of the information on the computers about the Brotherhood. Capt swears to Mags that he is going to break every bone in his body for this, but Magneto shrugs the threat off and flies off. Amid the wreck, a call from Charles Xavier comes through. He wants to explain why the X-Men did what they did. Cap doesn't want to hear anything from Xavier now, though. He blames Xavier as much as he does Magneto, and he's taking him down just as hard. Review: The story of this LS is incredible. With Millar writing both Ultimate X-Men and Ultimates, he is able to write both teams as we've known them all along, not screwing up any characters. Points I liked: -The fact that the X-Men's families are not kept in the dark about the missions. The fact that Mr. Grey knew about the Magneto-situation before the rest of the world was very cool. Whether this was his daughter telling him, or Xavier, I don't know, but it doesn't matter. -Cyclops' disappearance. I highly doubt Wolverine's story is true. Wolverine hated Cyclops and could have offed him. If it was really an avalanche, Kitty could have phased through the snow to find him, unless of course she doesn't have that kind of control over her powers yet. Then again, maybe Wolverine and Kitty really do think he's dead, but don't forget Cyclops once joined the Brotherhood, and kept contact with them. I don't think he'd turn his back on Jean like that, and who knows? Maybe he really is dead. -The fact that Cap knows Wolverine. Will Wolverine remember him, or did Weapon X take that all away from him? Cap could be the key to unlocking Wolverine's past, at least up until the point where Cap was frozen. Once the Ultimate War is over, it'll be interesting to see if these two get together and help discover Wolverine's origin. -Magneto. 'Nuff said. The only thing I really disliked was Chris Bachalo's art. I don't remember his work every being this hard to follow. This issue is a definate improvement from the first issue of this series. I had to study the scene with Magneto shooting his son, and I'm pretty sure that Mags shot Quicksilver in the kneecap. I know Kubert and Hitch are busy on their respective titles, but it would be nice to see one cover issues 1 and 3, while the other takes 2 and 4. Other than that, a good read, and the fight between the Ultimates and the X-Men will probably take place next issue. Can't wait =D
