Powers: Thor's powers have not been fully established yet, though it is apparent that he has super human strength, can fly using his hammer, and can even control the weather. Supposedly, Thor is a middle-aged man who had a nervous breakdown. Once he recovered, the man realized that he was indeed Thor of Norse mythology and discovered his powers. Unlike the Thor of 616, this Thor claims to be on Earth to save mankind from itself. He is an environmentalist first, and a superhero second. Nick Fury had been trying to get Thor to join the Ultimates for months, but Thor continually refused. When Fury and Bruce Banner flew to Norway to talk face-to-face with him, Banner scoffed at Thor's claims of being a god. He proved his powers to Banner, and claimed that he was not going to wear a cape for a corrupt government. Yet, when Manhattan was attacked by the Hulk, Thor agreed to help the Ultimates subdue him (provided that the President change some government funding to suit Thor's wishes). He also assisted the Ultimates in defeating the alien Chitauri, and was critical to saving Earth when he opened up a dimensional portal with his hammer and sent their mega-bomb through it.
A few months later, Thor spoke out against the Ultimates for invading a Middle Eastern nation to save some hostages, which he saw as protecting the U.S.'s oil interests. Worse, he was having visions of Asgardian colleagues such as Volstagg, who warned him that Loki was up to no good. Things came to a head when the Ultimates received information that Thor was the one who leaked the Hulk's civilian identity of Bruce Banner to the media, causing them a PR hit and Banner to be tried and sentenced to death. They found out from his brother that Thor was an engineered super-soldier, whose powers come from his belt, but Thor tried to convince them that it was one of Loki's lies, and that he really was an Asgardian. The Ultimates and the European super-Captains fought and subdued Thor, and he was locked up in the Triskelion while Fury figured out what to do with him.
