Codename Etymology: Pronounced sĭn'dĭkĭt [From French syndicat, from syndic "representative of a corporation"]; 1865, combination of persons or companies to carry out some commercial undertaking.
Powers & History: Syndicate's mutation is similar to conjoined twins, but in an extreme form. Their entire bodies are merged as one, except that they have two heads, and a third arm on the left side. They also have a glowing blue spot over their chest where there heart is located, which is apparently an internal electro-magnetic field that protects them from telepathic control.

When their sister got sick, Matthew & Luke decided to rob some banks in order to be able to pay for the necessary surgery. However they didn’t realize that Professor Charles Xavier was also present at that bank. Xavier telepathically calmed Syndicate down before the robbery could escalate, and had everyone present at the bank believe that the twins had died when the police barged in.

Afterward, Xavier paid for the surgery and convinced Syndicate to become undercover agents for him, so they could carry out “dirty” missions, the ones the X-Men couldn’t fulfill in public. The first was to recover the money stolen from Xavier by the Hellfire Club. Later, Xavier communicated with Syndicate again but was interrupted before he could hand out their next assignment. Xavier apparently got back to Syndicate before his apparent death at Cable's hands. Syndicate was sent to help Psylocke against Fenris, but when they had not heard from Xavier, he went with Psylocke back to the Mansion. What he decided to do is uncertain at this point.
