Powers & History: Storm can manipulate the weather. Born in Morocco, she came to the United States as a child and soon learned to steal to survive. She was arrested for grand theft auto and in a holding cell when Jean recruited her for the X-Men. At first, she was very uneasy with her powers, and fainted after calling down one lightning bolt, but the more she used them, the more comfortable she became, to the point where she flies on the wind with ease. She started dating her fellow X-Man, Beast, as well. Due to Storm's speculation about Xavier telepathically manipulating the X-Men, Beast ended their relationship. Storm tried to make amends, but Beast gave her the cold shoulder. When Magneto returned because Beast accidentally leaked information to the Brotherhood, Storm told Hank that she was over him. However, the two reconciled before Magneto's defeat.
Unfortunately, Beast's insecurities about his physique and the revelation that new member Warren Worthington was attracted to Storm caused problems with Storm and Beast's relationship. Ororo was not looking to hook up with Warren, but Hank was disturbed. When he was approached by Emma Frost and asked to join the government-sponsored "New Mutants," Beast accepted and secretly left Xavier's. Professor X located Hank telepathically, but was told to get lost. Beast was presented to the media along with some other mutants, but Sentinels attacked and Hank was buried under stone rubble.
