Powers & History: Human. Moira's was married to Xavier for fifteen years before he met Magneto. Together they worked to help mutants, devising new therapies and surgical techniques for their unique patients. Their relationship fell apart due to Xavier's friendship with Magneto, and their son David developed his mutant powers the day after Xavier left them. David's powers burned up his body. To save her son, Moira kept him sedated. She started a mutant hospital and research facility funded by the Hellfire Club.

During the X-Men's tour of Europe, David went into convulsions and transferred his conscious into another body, allowing him to escape Muir Island. S.T.R.I.K.E. placed Moira under house arrest and she was forced to call her ex-husband to help her track their son down. The events that followed led to David's death.

After Magneto's return, Moira moved her patients to a secret mutant safe haven hidden inside a hospital. Those at the safe haven were mainly ill mutants and mutant children. The haven was discovered when S.H.I.E.L.D. invaded Nightcrawler's mind, but the X-Men defeated Magneto and improved the public image of mutants soon after, negating the need to move again.
