Dazzler

Powers & History: Uncertain, but likely to deal with music or sound in some way. After discovering her mutant power, Dazzler decided to use the ability to try to obtain a record deal for her punk band. When approached by the X-Men, she said she would join them if they could get her a record deal. Afterwards, she signed up as a member of the government's mutant spokesmen known as the New Mutants, because they were able to connect her with MTV.

In their first public appearance, the New Mutants were attacked by Sentinels, and Dazzler did not even get to use her power, thanks to the X-Men's intervention. Following the attack and Beast's death, Dazzler and the rest of the mutants joined the Xavier student body, with the approval of General Fury. Dazzler tends to drink a lot and blow off her academics, and her powers are as yet untested in the field. She also maintains that her band is named Dazzler, and that's not her codename.

Ali didn't really seem to fit in with the rest of the X-Men, but when she saw footage of convicted murderer Longshot on a reality hunting show, she assumed he was framed and convinced Angel, Colossus and Nightcrawler to accompany her on an unauthorized rescue. When the mission became a fiasco and Angel was captured, and then Longshot turned out to have been guilty, Ali was about to be expelled, but Angel covered for her and convinced Xavier it was his idea. Ali was so turned on by his actions that she dragged him to her room...
