Colossus

Real Name: Piotr Rasputin

Powers & History: Colossus can transform his skin into organic metal, giving him near-invulnerability and massively enhanced strength. Peter joined the Russian Mafia to support his family and because the criminals saved him from the firing squad. After one of the jobs went wrong, Colossus was exposed as a mutant when he was forced to armor up to deflect a storm of bullets. Jean appeared on the scene to recruit him for the X-Men. He joined the team, but eventually left because he felt unappreciated and because he loved a team member who could never love him. He went to work building cars back in Russia. Cyclops and Jean tried to convince him to rejoin the X-Men or to at least rescue the crew of a submarine that was trapped underwater. At first, he refused, but eventually he broke down and pulled the submarine to the surface. Feeling the high of being a hero, he returned to the X-Men, where he was instrumental in stopping the mad Proteus by dropping a truck on him. Colossus has proven a valuable member of the team, even struggling against Magneto's power to save Wolverine from the Master of Magnetism's wrath. He seems to have had a crush on Wolverine, but never found the opportunity to tell him.

When Nightcrawler joined the X-Men, he and Piotr became friends, but the relationship soured when Colossus revealed that he was gay. Nightcrawler was upset and could no longer speak with Piotr normally. Colossus, meanwhile, began seeing Northstar from the Academy of Tomorrow, and was invited to the Academy's Spring Ball. While there, the Brotherhood attacked and Piotr called the X-Men for backup, not realizing that the villains' appearance was the result of Magician's reality powers.

Following Professor X's apparent death, Colossus visited the Academy of Tomorrow, and contemplated staying there with Northstar.
