Codename Etymology: Pronounced ə-pŏk'ə-lĭps' [from Greek apokalupsis, "revelation", Apocalypse, from apokaluptein, "to uncover" : apo-, apo- + kaluptein, "to cover"]; A catastrophic end, from the Greek name of The Book of Revelations, the prophetic visions of Saint John concerning the end of the world.
Powers & History: Uncertain. It is unclear whether Apocalypse is a true being or just a figment of the insane mind of Sinister. Apocalypse apparently gave Sinister orders to kill five mutants for him so he could be powerful to return to Earth and destroy it. However, the X-Men later discovered at Sinister’s apartment that Apocalypse could have been just a dressed-up puppet.

But, when Sinister later got defeated and arrested by SHIELD, an image of Apocalypse once appeared in front of Essex, and because Sinister had failed him, Apocalypse was so angry he told the guy to choke himself. Sinister didn’t do this, and Apocalypse hasn’t been seen since, and it still hasn’t been made clear if the he is real or not.
