History & Powers: Master of magnetism and arguably one of the most powerful people on Earth. He leads the X-Men with iron discipline, but is fundamentally a good man. Magneto was best friends with Charles Xavier for many years, and the two of them essentially founded the X-Men together. However, after a particularly difficult battle against the Shadow King, Xavier disappeared, leaving Magneto in control of the team. During that time Magneto fell in love with Moira MacTaggert, a long-time friend and geneticist. Unfortunately, when Xavier returned during a fight with Juggernaut, Moira got in the way of one of Xavier's mental blasts and was killed. Magneto realized that his friend had changed for the worse, so he kept the X-Men away from Charles ever afterwards.

Later on, Magneto went all out to save the Shi'ar from some menace and consequently was visibly weakened during the fight with the Goblin Queen. However, with his children's support he managed to lead the Allies to victory. Later, he revealed himself again to Havok (who thought he had been killed) and helped in the fight against before leaving to his moon base.

When Havok's fight with the insane Captain America destroyed half the moon, Magneto returned to Earth. He and the X-Men were then embroiled in the conflict with the Dracula and Beyonder II (who turned out to be the Goblin Queen). Magneto was the X-Men's sole survivor of that attack, and though fraught with grief, had to hold back his revenge to get Havok and the other survivors to the South Pole. There, with the concentrated magnetic field restoring and enhancing his strength, Magneto raised up a citadel buried in the ice, in which the heroes staged their final attack on the Goblin Queen. Following Havok's departure, Magneto turned to helping rebuild the Earth.
