Brute

Real Name: Dr. Henry J. McCoy
Affiliation: The Six
Previous Affiliations: X-Men, X-Factor
Aliases: Beast
Relatives: Norton (father), Edna (mother), Robert (uncle)
Powers: Hank was born with exceptionally large hands and feet, extraordinary strength, agility, and dexterity, and a tremendous intellect. After gaining fame as a high school football star, he joined the X-Men and was a mainstay of the original team as the Beast. When he graduated, Hank went to work for the Brand Corporation as a genetic researcher. He tried to isolate the factor that caused mutations, and tested his results on himself. Unlike our Earth's Beast, who became blue and furry, this Hank McCoy became a green, amphibious monster with webbed hands, feet, and arms. The worst part, however, was that his once grand intellect was gone, leaving Hank with the intelligence of a child and no way to cure himself. Calling himself the Brute, Hank remained with the X-Men, until Havok took him along to form X-Factor when Magneto took over Xavier's school. Unfortunately, during "Inferno" the Brute joined up with N'astirh and S'ym, mistakenly thinking that they could help him because they looked similar. They were stopped, but the damage was already done: Hank's legs were transformed from their monster state into demonic goat legs with cloven hooves. So far, both transformations seem to be permanent. When Madelyne Pryor succumbed to the urgings of a demon, she killed a Man-Spider clone and the Green Goblin and then framed Hank for it, with the Fallen threatening his parents if he told the truth. Madelyne then restored the Brute's intelligence, and forced him to request his own execution. Apparently, he was executed and then resurrected by Madelyne, whom he served until Scotty Summers used his abilities to free Hank's mind from her control. Brute returned to the X-Men with Scotty, and joined the fight against the Goblin Queen. Recently, during a battle with Xavier, Hank jumped in front of a psionic blast meant for Havok and went into a coma for a few days. When he emerged, his mental faculties had returned! The Brute no more, Hank began to investigate what has caused his accident. Finally, after more and more memories returned, he remembered that he had been working on a way to restore his friend Ice-Man to human form. The final phase of the treatment had begun when Havok (the original one), jealous over the friendship that Bob and Madelyne had developed in the wake of his own affair with Susan Richards, blasted the machine and the combination of all the chemicals and electricity falling on Hank was what turned him into the Brute. With his mind is back, Hank thought he may have a way to send Alex home (and find his world's version of Havok)! However, his mental state deteriorated again, but this time Hank was prepared, and made a holographic simalcrum of himself with all of his brain's capabilities. It was this simalcrum that devised a cure for Bloodstorm's and Gambit's bloodthirst and for Ice-Man's condition. Unfortunately, he could not cure himself, and reverted to his child-like state.

The Brute was later gravely wounded by Dracula and was airlifted to Magneto's Antarctic base. His survival is assumed but uncertain.
