History & Powers: The immortal mutant shapeshifter is not the despot he aims to be in our reality. Rather, due to the threat of beings like Sinister and Xavier, this High Lord allied himself with Magneto, saving Jean Grey from death years ago, and then with Havok later on. Apocalypse saved Magneto and the X-Men from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s nuclear attack, and then finally contacted Havok II, and revealed the nature of the crisis. While Havok (who had none of the memories of his original counterpart) had trouble believing that Apocalypse was on the side of right, he eventually realized that Xavier was truly evil and helped defeat his former teacher. In the final battle, however, Apocalypse was struck by Xavier's mindblasts and died. Throughout his life, he did adhere to the familiar "survival of the fittest" refrain, but he wanted it to proceed more naturally than his enemies did. He also led the Four Horsemen, but to what purpose is still unclear.
