Namora

Affiliation: Exiles
Status: Deceased (Hyperion)
History & Powers: Namora was a female, blue-skinned version of Earth 616's Namor. She seemed to be a pure-bred Atlantean and not a hybrid. Her mutation appeared to be super-strength and endurance. Namora discovered her mutation when she was bitten by a shark and ripped its head open. Eight years later, another Atlantean mutant named Attuma attacked the royal family and killed Queen Dorma, whereupon Namora challenged and killed him. The Atlanteans made Namora their ruler, and she forbade contact with the surface world, leading to deceades of peace.

However, after two world wars and increasing nuclear tests on islands, Namora declared war on humanity, which she viewed as a threat to all life. Just prior to her attack, Namora was contacted by Charles Xavier, whose compassion and intellect convinced her of the value of integration over conquest. She agreed with Xavier's vision, but Magneto's attack on Cape Citadel (which she helped foil) catalyzed anti-mutant hysteria, and Xavier and his X-Men were imprisoned. Xavier rejected Namora's pleas to resist, and within months, the Avengers and other sanctioned "heroes" had captured all remaining mutants. Only Reed Richards argued for mutant rights, and Namora greatly admired him.

Unfortunately, Namora saw no choice but to attack humanity, and her forces killed all the super-beings. Even the Fantastic Four were compelled to oppose Namora, and Reed's intellect and strategizing nearly defeated her. However, Namora took advantage of the FF's familial nature and lured the Human Torch and the Thing to the Marianas Trench (the deepest location on Earth), and Reed and Sue had to follow. The FF could not handle fighting under the pressure and darkness, and they died, leaving Namora as the ruler of Earth.

When Namora became an Exile (to replace Magik), she also tried to oppose the Timebroker, and went solo to find Namor (616) and Reed Richards. Namor took an immediate dislike to his female counterpart and resented her apparent mission (to change the timeline) and Reed had her imprisoned temporarily until she told her story. Eventually the Exiles and FF fought and reconciled, and Namora was forced to agree with Reed that the Timebroker does not actually exist, but rather is "a construct of the Exiles' collective consciousnesses."

Namora worked with the Exiles for a number of missions, until they ended up on the Age of Apocalypse and Holocaust divined the Timebroker's temporal signature, leading the team into the Panoptichron. There the Exiles discovered that Hyperion from Weapon X had taken over the time-jumping mechanism and was the current persona of the Timebroker. The team fought Hyperion, to no avail, and when Morph was blasted apart, Namora attacked in rage and was killed when the Timebroker boiled the ocean in one of the reality rooms.

Reason for Being an Exile: Unknown.
