Exiles Bios

Magik

Real Name: Illyana Rasputin
Affiliation: Exiles
Relatives: Piotr (Colossus, brother)
History & Powers: Magik is a teleporter, whose range and carrying capacity are still undetermined. It is also not clear whether she uses Limbo's Stepping Disks to teleport or whether the power is internally generated. Also unknown is why she became unstuck in time, although the fact that she replaced Blink, another teleporter, indicates that the Timebrokers may choose agents based on needed abilities. Magik carries a sword as her primary weapon, but it does not appear to be the same as the Soulsword wielded by the Magik of Earth 616. In fact, her first sword was "confiscated" by Archangel after she threaten to kill him, so she simply conjured another one. The sword was later identified as a "Soul Sword of Bata’s Circle" and was used to kill the Vampire King.

Magik's first mission as an Exile was on a world in which all the heroes worked for a giant company run by Danny Rand (Iron Fist). The mission was to let the heroes be killed and Japan be destroyed by Moses Magnum. Magik had no problem with that if it allowed her to get closer to home, and though the Exiles agreed to try and find a better way, Magik found the heroes first and slaughtered them all. Even the presence of a Colossus didn't deter her from her work. None of the other Exiles saw Magik's actions, but Mimic suspected that they didn't leave that world because of anything but cold-blooded murder. When the Exiles came On other missions, Illyana apparently killed some children and did something bad to Moira MacTaggert, and Mimic finally called her to task on her attitude, which she flatly denied.

Later, when Hyperion's Weapon X team tried to take over a parallel Earth following Sunfire's death, Magik tried to make nice (and out) with Morph, opening up to him about her reasons for her behavior. Unfortunately, while she said she would work with the Exiles, she turned on Sasquatch and wounded her when she saw Hyperion. She then tried to tell Hyperion about their mission, which was to have the 12 reality-jumpers whittled down to six, to get him to stop. Instead, Hyperion killed Magik to test her statement, since in fact no one replaced Magik after she died. Reason for Being an Exile: Her family would have been killed without her agreeing to fix the timeline.
