Part of the Days of Future Past Timeline
Synopsis & Review by CharleyX: Said deceased hero is floating face down in one of the drainage tubes of the Hoover Dam, seemingly dead at the hands of the foster daughter he'd come to save - Amiko, now known as Midnight. Suddenly, though Logan snaps awake, and fights for air as he recalls that last fight. He scrambles to find purchase for his claws in the walls before he is swept over a waterfall. Just as he starts to fall, though, a hand grabs his arm and pulls him out of the water. It's Amiko, and now Logan is really confused. Amiko says she knew his healing factor would counteract her poisoned blades - she's here to help him, not kill him. And now she needs his help to stop Shaw. Nearby, Jubilee is worried by the strange energy pouring out of the dam, and by the fact that Logan hasn't checked in yet. Magneto is distracted by the thought of his daughter, then decides to go on the offensive. Jubilee disagrees, but Magnus feels he has no choice but to try, even if the enemy knows he's coming. Inside, Logan and Amiko hide as a chopper lands and disgorges Baron Zemo. He is led to Shaw as Logan watches in confusion. Zemo as brought Leech and Synch with him as "gifts" for Shaw, who likes killing X-Men. Zemo leaves, but as the henchmen try to take custody of the mutants, Wolverine attacks, taking out the guards and slicing off Leech and Synch's inhibitor collars. Amiko leads them all inside. Meanwhile, Zemo joins Shinobi and Betsy as they prepare to direct the Engine at Sentinel Command, which suits Zemo just fine. However, a rumbling stops them as Magneto rips thrugh the ceiling. He sees Wanda and goes into a rage, using his powersd mercilessly to captures his foes. Unfortunately, Shinobi had planned for this situation, and automated systems create a reverse-polarity field that traps Magneto. He can only escape if he powers down, but that would leave his vulnerable to the other more lethal systems. While Magneto struggles, a helmeted technician moves to the Engine and tries to free Wanda. Unfortunately, Betsy realizes something's wrong and uses her psychic knife on this traitor, who turns out to be Jubilee instead. Shinobi orders Betsy to kill Jubes, and Zemo seconds the motion, but is immediately struck down by Synch, who has mirrored Psylocke's powers. Betsy threatens Ev, but Leech saps her powers, and Jubilee and gives her a fireworks blast to take her out. Shinobi is unfazed, but then Logan and Amiko arrive. Amiko sends Logan to deal with Betsy, which he does with consummate ease. Then Wolvie moves to free Wanda, but Shaw attacks, attempting to use his intangibility to get at Logan's heart and crush it. At the last second, though, Amiko blocks his path, and Shaw reaches into her chest instead. Logan uses the opportunity to liberate Wanda, which distracts Shaw from finishing Midnight off. They're about to face off when Shinobi is grabbed by Magneto, his powers working now that Midnight took out the magnetic generators imprisoning him. Wanda recognizes her father and uses her last erg of power to destroy the doomsday machine. Unfortunately, she has no control of her hex blast, and it begins to destroy not just the machine, but the entire facility. Jubilee picks up Amiko as Shinobi scoots. Logan takes Wanda out, but Magneto says he'll join them shortly - he's going after Shaw. Magneto shortly finds and confronts Shinobi, who turns intangible and dares Magnus to do his worst. Magneto disrupts Shinobi's entire body structure, reminding him that even when intangible, atoms are still subject to EM control. His foe gone, Magneto seems victorious, until a falling beam hits him from behind and pins him to the ground by his legs. He calls weakly for Wanda. Outside, Jubilee zaps the guards in frotn of Zemo's chopper, and everyone is loaded aboard, even Psylocke, whom Jubilee didn't want to leave behind to die. Wanda asks for her father, and Logan goes back to find him, cutting off Jubilee's protests. Inside, Logan's senses quickly lead him to Magneto, who is upset that Logan left Wanda's side. Wolverine says he's doing this for Wanda in the first place, as he lifts the beam off Magneto's legs and is stunned at the damage. Magneto cuts him off, but too late, as the dam finally bursts. Outside, the airborne chopper is safe from the raging flood, but Jubilee is afraid Logan and Magneto didn't make it. Amiko, however, spots Magneto and Logan levitating out of the water, as Logan yells up that Magneto's hurt. Jubilee helps pull them inside. Days later, at Emma's Indian house, Magnus sits by his daughter's bedside. He tells her that the beam crushed his legs beyond repair, and he will never walk again. He tells her this has changed his mindset, and that he regrets not telling her and her brother how proud he was of them. Wanda tells him he doesn't have to be limited by who he was anymore. He can start again and make a difference. "You can make a difference..." she says with her last breath, as Magnus cries over her body. Elsewhere, Amiko confronts Logan, who wants to know why she let him think she was dead for so long. She explains that she was always a target for his enemies, which is why he asked the Silver Samurai to look after her. When the Samurai became Emperor a few years later, he thought it best to fake Amiko's death, to keep her safe. While in hiding, she trained with many martial arts masters, using only Midnight as her name. Then the Emperor came to her with a mission: to find Shinobi Shaw, inflitrate the Hellfire Club and destroy the Cataclysm Engine. She apologizes for deceiving Logan, but in the end, he's just glad she's OK In Emma's control center, Jubilee asks about Psylocke. Emma says her brother Brian is willing to take her back to England after she finishes her rehab. Logan enters with Amiko, who asks to join their fight, now that her duty to the Emperor has been fulfilled. Magnus also rolls in with the same request, and Emma comments on how interesting the world is becoming as Logan welcomes him to the group. The Beginning!
