Synopsis by SGuthrie19:
Switchback reveals her ability to shunt her backward ten seconds in her timeline in order to relieve herself of a "headache." As she and Mystique return to the village, Nightcrawler asks Damask what Apocalypse's second wave was that was sent after the Pale Riders, and she responds by flirting with him. X-Calibre arrives at the destroyed village as Douglas tries to help Anatoly, one of the victims of the bombings. Switchback tries to convince him to help, until suddenly Wendy, a bolt-throwing mutant, begins burning up everyone around her. Douglas claims that he hears two sets of noise coming from the mutant's brain, one of which reveals itself as the Shadow King, who had piggybacked first from Dead Man Wade, then to Switchback, and finally to his current host. Mystique responds by blowing the girl away, but Damask points out, in terror, that she has only destroyed the host body and that the Shadow King is probably already in another host, perhaps multiple ones. This prediction is proven true, as chaos breaks loose, the humans and mutants of Avalon killing each other in a frenzy. Destiny's life is threatened by the possessed mutant Marcus, at which point Damask reveals her mutant power of psionic skinning. Unfortunately, she's missed the the Shadow King and instead only fried the host's brain. She explains that Farouk uses a sort of sub-space teleportation to travel from host to host, and Nightcrawler forms a hasty plan to stop him, just as Mystique is possessed. She turns to Sabretooth, and what she says leads us to believe that Victor may actually be Kurt's father! Nightcrawler teleports himself, Switchback, and Damask into the other dimension, and while Switchback uses her time-warping powers to keep them there, Damask locates the Shadow King and skins him. When they return, Mystique collapses, none the worse for where, but the Shadow King has the last laugh, as he attempts to destroy Destiny one last time through Marcus, and instead hits Douglas, who throws himself in the path of the blast. Destiny vows from then on to come back with Nightcrawler, and eventually to take down Apocalypse once and for all.
