Synopsis by Jeff Harris:Gateway is vastly unaffected by the images of death and destruction that the Council shows him, until he witnesses the holographic demise of a young girl by an Infinite and he is finally ready to shepherd the fleet to America. In New York, Apocalypse is busy doing some more Magneto-torturing when Rex comes in and tells him of lack of communication from either Pierce's group or the "missing horseman" Mikhail Rasputin. Apocalypse does not agree with beefing up security, still going with his "survival of the fittest" idea and believing that Pierce & Co. are more adaptable than they first thought. As the fleet starts its journey across the Atlantic, Logan has a conversation with Emma Frost who, although having no telepathic powers after her lobotomy, proves to be pretty intuitive when she mentions Jean's departure. They discuss the moral issues involved in the bombing and their feelings about it, but are interrupted again by Gateway's departure to stand on the prow of the ship. Weapon X thinks he must be a bit crazy, but it turns out to be a good thing that he's up there, as he sees the arrival of Pierce and his new assistant and is not in the cabin to be killed along with the rest of the personnel, minus Frost and Braddock. As it turns out, Brian was yet another of Apocalypse's hidden agents, and after whacking Emma, pilots the ship himself. But she gets up quickly and threatens Brian menacingly with a hatchet. But then, Brian double crosses Pierce and tosses him out the window, but not before he is killed himself by Pierce's talons. Up above, Logan faces the transformed Carol Danvers, her body combined with cyborg parts of the various altered humans he encountered in his earlier battles. She is evidently unable to control herself, even if she wants to stop and asks for Logan to stop her, but he can't since his arm's been shot up and isn't totally healed. But then Pierce does the job for him, deciding that his mission will be a suicidal one and that he's willing to die if he takes Weapon X with him. But then Logan reveals his secret weapon--his other set of claws which had been previously retracted in his forearm after Cyclops blasted it off, and Pierce is finally out of the picture. Still, he thinks the fleet's done for, but Gateway uses a whirligig with a larger radius which manages to teleport them all to Apocalypse and armageddon (see X-Men Omega for the conclusion).
