Real Name: [James Howlett]Weapon X’s history is largely unknown, even to himself. What is known is that Weapon X seems to have traveled a lot and made connections all around the world. These connections include Human High Council member Moira Trask, the Yashida Clan in Japan, special agent Carol Danvers and the mysterious assassin known as Psylocke. Always having a feral nature, only a select few people (such as Mariko Yashida) could calm him and bring out his humanity. Magneto introduced Weapon X to his X-Men just before their first mission against Apocalypse. It was during that introduction where he met the telepath Jean Grey, with whom he made an immediate connection.
Over Logan’s years with the X-Men, he and Jean Grey fell in love, turned young recruit Kitty Pryde into an expert assassin and fought ferociously alongside Magneto for his cause. Weapon X’s loyalty for Magneto abruptly ended when Jean Grey was captured by Prelate Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Magneto ordered the team to leave her behind. Weapon X would not leave Jean to suffer and die in the pens and infiltrated Sinister’s labs to rescue her on his own. On their way out, Weapon X encountered and fought Scott Summers again. This battle resulted in Logan losing a hand but removing out one of Cyclops’ eyes in return. Logan returned with Jean Grey and told Magneto that they were done with the X-Men.
The two went out on their own, fighting to preserve peace their own way until they were approached by Sinister. Sinister no longer wanted part of Apocalypse’s unnecessary genocide and gave Jean and Logan vital information to deliver to the Human High Council. The two completed this task and even offered to perform a mission for them while the data was being deciphered. This mission involved the two of them to destroy the control center for an entire area of Apocalypse’s sea wall. This would allow an opening free of fire if the Human resistance were to launch an attack on Apocalypse’s Empire. While on this mission, Jean was nearly killed by Prelate Alex Summers (Havok) but the combined efforts of Weapon X and their sentinel escort came to her rescue. Upon their return to London they were informed that the Human High Council had discovered that the data provided by Sinister detailed a planned assault on Europe. This and an attempted assassination by Magma resulted in the near unanimous decision to launch a pre-emptive strike on Apocalypse’s Empire. While Logan supported this decision, Jean did not.
The two then assisted in the arrival of human refugees from an evacuation in Maine and defended the humans against a hidden attack. Logan’s old friend and High Council member Mariko Yashida approached him soon after and the two reunited to discuss their feelings towards the pre-emptive strike. This conversation was cut short as Pierce and his enhanced humans took control of a resistance airship in an attempt to ground the Council’s attack. Despite Weapon X defeating the enhanced humans, they still succeeded in halting the Council’s pre-emptive strike. This failure was further compounded by Jean’s departure to New York in hopes of saving all she could before the Council’s attack.
Remaining with the Human High Council, Logan was sent on a mission back to Wundagore Mountain and retrieve Gateway. Gateway’s mutant power could teleport the armada right into the heart of Apocalypse’s Empire, giving them a chance to follow through on their attack. While there Weapon X encountered both more of Pierce’s enhanced humans and another old friend, Carol Danvers. At the cost of Danvers’ life, Weapon X managed to deliver a hesitant Gateway to the Council. The Human High Council and Logan then convinced Gateway to help after showing him the brutality of Apocalypse first-hand through holograms. As Gateway prepared to send the Human Armada to Apocalypse’s empire, Pierce attacked yet again with the help of a brainwashed and enhanced Carol Danvers. Weapon X managed to stop Pierce yet again before he could kill Gateway. With the threat of Pierce eliminated, Gateway teleported the Council’s armada all across North America.
His mission accomplished, Weapon X parachuted from the armada into New York City in hopes of finding Jean Grey. Unfortunately, by the time Logan found her it was too late and Jean was viciously attacked from behind by Havok. Weapon X exacted swift revenge by killing Havok and reunited with his true love just before she died in his arms. After Apocalypse’s defeat and the miraculous dismantling of the bombs, Weapon X gave Jean’s body over to Magneto to bury. He then informed the sympathetic Magneto that in losing Jean he had also lost his reason for living and asked that he be left alone and in peace.
Weapon X returned to Canada and lived there alone undisturbed until new X-Man Kirika came to retrieve. Claiming to be Logan’s daughter or clone, Kirika managed to convince Weapon X help her take down Northstar and Aurora. After killing both of the former followers of Apocalypse, Weapon X decided to accept Magneto’s offer and return to the X-Men. Logan was thrown into battle soon after his arrival by fighting the renegade Guthrie siblings. In the second battle with the Guthries it was revealed that Magneto did not stop the bombs from detonating after Apocalypse’s defeat but rather it was done by a barely alive Jean Grey. Logan was furious at this revelation and threatened to kill Magneto upon learning that Magneto gave Jean’s dead body over to Sinister in return for his silence.
When the X-Men decided to take down Sinister once and for all, they were greeted by his Sinister Six which was led by a brainwashed and resurrected Jean Grey. Logan tried to reason with her but it was clear that her brainwashing made her not remember him. In the resulting battle, Psylocke used her psionic knives to remove Jean’s brainwashing and the Logan reunited with Jean. Together with Kirika and Magneto, the four then killed Sinister so his presence would never plague the world again. Psylocke then used her psionic knives on Kirika, causing her to remember her past. She revealed that she was Logan’s daughter with former Human High Council member Mariko Yashida. Knowing that his place will be forever with Jean, Logan remained at the X-Mansion to help her carry on Xavier’s dream of peace.
