Powers & History: The Shadow King is a telepath of incredible power. He does not have a physical body, [as it was destroyed by Charles Xavier] and instead exists as pure psychic energy. He can enter peoples’ minds, possess multiple hosts and scan the astral plane for any other mutants with psychic capabilities.

The Shadow King was a very loyal servant to Apocalypse and assisted him in many ways. This included scanning the minds of prisoners, forcibly gathering desired information for Apocalypse and alerting him of the presence of powerful telepath Nate Grey. Shadow King also stowed away in the mind of Dead Man Wade, who led him to Avalon. Once there he began to possess many of the inhabitants and used their power to try and destroy Avalon. The mutant Damask (who was once a student of the Shadow King) tried to stop him by psionically skinning his mind but only destroyed the host mind that Shadow King was possessing. By chance, the alternate plane of existence on which the Shadow King resided was the same one through which Nightcrawler teleported. Nightcrawler teleported Damask and Switchback and Switchback used her mutant power the split second they were in the alternate plane to extend their visit. This gave Damask the chance to defeat the Shadow King and save Avalon. Since the Shadow King has the capability to possess multiple hosts, it is likely that only a part of him was destroyed.
