Codename Etymology: Pronounced sôr'ŏnĕ-lĭn' [Greek sauros "lizard"]; From Saurian: the class of lizards that include crocodiles and dinosaurs. Chosen to recall the name of the main villain in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Powers & History: Karl Lykos [due to a pteodactyl bite suffered near the Savage Land] developed a physical mutation taking on the appearance of a pterodactyl, complete with flight, increased strength and agility as well as razor sharp talons.

Calling himself, Soar-on, Lykos joined Forge’s drama troupe and resistance team that traveled around Apocalypse’s empire doing what they could to help humans. Despite being blunt and rude to others, Soar-on still believed what Apocalypse was doing was wrong and needed to be stopped. During an attempt to free human prisoners of Apocalypse, Soar-on’s wing was blasted by Infinite soldiers. This caused Forge to retreat since Soar-on needed medical attention immediately. Soar-on’s injury prevented him from fighting against Domino and her assassins but he did try to rescue Nate Grey from Sinister along with Sonique. Soar-on promised Nate that he would look after Sonique as Nate went to fight Apocalypse.

Soar-on either betrayed Sonique to Sinister or both were captured and brainwashed into serving Sinister. Now calling himself Sauron, he fought the X-Men as a member of the Sinister Six. Sauron tried to attack Magneto from behind but ended up killing Quicksilver, who jumped in the way, instead. Enraged, Magneto used his powers to drive a sword through Sauron’s chest, killing him.
