Powers & History: The Madri were the physical duplicates of the original Madrox created using kinetic impact as a catalyst. Apocalypse had the original Jamie Madrox genetically altered so he could exceed his natural upper limit of duplicates and this left him in a nearly mindless child-like state. The Madri served as the eyes and ears of Apocalypse, while functioning as a quasi-religious body, complete with rituals and temples. When the X-Men went to Quebec to rescue Bishop, Quicksilver and Banshee more or less by accident discovered the one, true Jamie Madrox, held in a cell. To their surprise, he didn’t fight them, but asked to be killed as this would have left the Madri soulless shells. The two X-Men did not want to kill an innocent victim, and wondered what to do. Though Madrox repeated that he needed to die for the sake of Storm and Bishop, who were about to be defeated by the Madri, Quicksilver could not get himself to kill an innocent. Jamie then shut the dupes off on his own, but the process strained him so much that he too died.
