Synopsis & Review by Thunderbird III:
Synopsis: Magneto implores the Morlocks to come to the surface peacefully but the offer is rejected quite physically by their leader Marrow. Despite Magneto’s protests Silver Samurai immediately jumps in to start a free for all. The X-Men have the edge till Xorn is severely wounded by Feral. Magneto orders Storm to lash out and the Morlocks reveal their secret weapon, Leech. With the X-Men’s powers turned off, the Morlocks quickly get an upper hand. One of the Morlocks takes a downed Magneto’s helmet off and causes him to see a vision of Apocalypse unleashing a Phoenix-shaped burst of energy. Storm knocks out Leech and the X-Men with their powers functioning again drive off the Morlocks but Magneto is still out cold.

In Canada X-23 is chopping up wood with her claws. Wolverine comes out to complain about the noise she’s making. She then tells him the story of how she was found in one of Sinister’s abandoned labs by the X-Men who took her in and trained her.

In the X-Men’s headquarters in Washington DC Magneto awakes and he starts to talk about the failure mutant/human relations and describes it as a lost cause much as his 616 version would but some encouraging words from Rogue and the timely arrival of Quicksilver with some reports about some of Apocalypse’s former acolytes is enough to send him racing towards Mexico. Beak and Wolfsbane go to visit an injured Xorn in the hospital. When they leave, Xorn lifts up her shirt to reveal some strange stuff growing over her wound.

In a basement someone opens a coffin with some weird energy inside.

Back in Canada, Weapon X refuses to go back with X-23 till she offers him a chance to take revenge on some of Apocalyse’s minions. A few days later Weapon X and X-23 have tracked down Aurora and Northstar who are planning a raid on some settlers. Some quick banter later they take on the two twins. Aurora flies off with X-23 who chops her up. Northstar comes to her rescue only to be taken down himself. After the battle a pleased Weapon X decides to rejoin the X-Men.

Review: Another good issue. The fight scenes are pretty good, especially the one between the twins and Weapon X and X-23. There’s hints that they maybe more to Xorn that meets the eye and we also see what seems like the AOA version of Beak (Same name and Xorn calls him a bird) but looks nothing like him. My favourite bit though is the one in the hospital when Magneto sounds like his 616 version when he talks about human/mutant relations. Apparently he still carries the guilt from the memories he saw in Bishops head about what he would have been like if it wasn’t for Xavier’s death and he expresses it by muttering about his entire life being a lie. A really well-done scene.
