Real Name: Alexander SummersBefore Apocalypse began his rise to power, Alex’s parents Christopher and Katherine Summers tried to flee the US with Alex and his brother Scott. Their plane was abducted and the two boys had no option but to jump from the plane using the last parachute. They were found and adopted by Sinister who saw great genetic potential in the Summers brothers. Alex became the more violent of the two, full of rage from being constantly cast in his brother’s shadow. Scott tried to help his brother get more attention but Alex only resented his brother more for it. Before the brothers were promoted to prelate, they reunited with their biological father who had been held captive by Apocalypse for years. Alex was happy to finally be reunited with his father. When his father transformed into a Brood and attacked Alex, Scott was forced to kill their father. Alex resented his brother even more for that, thinking that there must have been another way to stop him and keep their father alive.
When Alex was promoted to Prelate, he was given the job as the head of security in Apocalypse’s pens. When Jean Grey and Weapon X attacked part of Apocalypse’s seawall, Havok was teleported in to eliminate them. Havok confronted Jean Grey first and would have killed her if Weapon X hadn’t rescued her. As the two renegade mutants made their escape on a Sentinel, Havok continued to try and destroy them. The Sentinel was able to force Alex into the teleporter and send him back to Apocalypse, having part of him merged with parts of the robot.
Havok recovered under Beast's expert care and continued his duties as head of security for Apocalypse. He also enjoyed the perks of being one of Apocalypse’s chosen which included visiting Angel’s nightclub Heaven. While there, he began a forbidden relationship with human singer Scarlett McKenzie. As part of his job, Havok was also working on finding the culprit to a series of escapes from the pens and maintain order. He did this with the assistance of mutant guards Elizabeth (Amazon) and Sam (Cannonball) Guthrie. When the mystery rescuer freed Lorna Dane from the pens, Havok followed and discovered it was his own brother Scott. He was now fully prepared to kill Cyclops and earn the respect and praise that had been given to his brother for so long.
When Jean Grey infiltrated the pens in hopes of freeing them, Havok defeated and captured her. He then tried to have Cyclops kill her to prove his loyalty to Apocalypse. When his brother refused, Havok, Cannonball and Amazon took Cyclops prisoner as well and handed them over to Beast. After Cyclops and Jean Grey escaped the clutches of the Beast, Havok was given the orders to exterminate all prisoners in the pens. Scarlett McKenzie was also apprehended by Apocalypse’s forces for being a spy for the Human High Council. Havok interrogated her and she revealed that she was pregnant with his child. He left her to deal with riot in the pens caused by Jean Grey destroying the brain trust and bringing back the prisoners’ will to rebel. During the riot he tried to kill Cyclops and Jean Grey but was defeated by Cyclops. Given the option to kill his brother, Scott refused to and left him unconscious.
Havok did not waste this poor decision and followed the two, waiting for the perfect time to strike. He did so and apparently killed Jean Grey. Havok then knocked Cyclops out and was prepared to kill him if Weapon X had not skewered Alex from behind.
