Generation Next #3
Synopsis by Jeff Harris:
As the day breaks, the humans of the Core, a geomolecular sweatshop used as the power source for all of Apocalypse's America, begin their grueling work, while Skin and Chamber make their way through one of the towers. Outside the tower, a mutant with a third eye that can expel intense bursts of energy, blows up an old man for giving his daughter some extra food, and when the girl retaliates by throwing a rock at his head, he blows her off the cliff. Chamber screams at this outrage, but Skin quiets him down, and Mondo ends up exacting revenge on the man instead by literally becoming part of the building and railing and tossing the guard off. "Quietus", or should I say Husk and Vincente, continue their research, and are barely able to fool Sugar Man who comes in to report a possible break-in (Know-It-All's psi-surfing in issue #1) and says that he wants "him" to keep a look-out in case someone tries to break into the Core. Colossus and Shadowcat wait for a signal on one of the Core balconies, while Mondo saves Ace, Illyana's friend from being tossed over the edge of an abyss. Chamber and Skin blast a guard to get his keys, and "Quietus" meets them, but is forced to bash them together with Sugar Man shows up with an army of nasty mutants. Know-It-All reports the situation to the teachers, advising them to lend the students a hand, but Colossus refuses and says they will continue to wait. Down below, Mondo finally secures Illyana, and Piotr and Katya choose that point to break in themselves. When "Quietus" tries to convince the Sugar Man that they've found their break-in culprits, Husk/Vincente is forced to seemingly shoot Chamber...
