Synopsis by Jeff Harris:Deep in the Core, Illyana and her friend Ace struggle to hide from the malevolent Sugar Man who controlls the operation, while above, Skin and Chamber trick a couple of guards into getting on their hijacked vehicle and then steal their uniforms. On the outskirts of the area, Colossus and Shadowcat are sneaking around trying to get into a back entrance while their students are using the front. While nearly having their cover blown by an undercloak, they manage to kill him hopefully before he was able to transmit his information. In another part of the Core, Husk in masquerading as human attendant, massaging and cleaning the ugly High Foreman Quietus at a bath house. When the huge mutant tries to make advances on her, his mutant-detecting vaporizer causes Paige to become violently sick, thus ruining her position. But before he finishes her off, Quietus takes a deep gulp from Husk's drinking container she had brought with her, and he suddenly doubles over, spewing gas from within and then pretty much ripping apart as Vincente forces his way out of his body. The pair of teen X-Men then proceed to go through Quietus' files to try to find Illyana's location. Mondo steals a guard's uniform so he can move freely about the core, while Husk and Vincente combine their powers to mimic Quietus' appearance and they run into Chamber and Skin who are posing as workers, and the three begin to search the pits themselves, barely missing finding Illyana who was very close by.
