Synopsis by X-Factor 111:
New York City. Jubilee charges through the ruined streets, pursued by a patrol of Infinites. She is carrying medical supplies stolen from Apocalypse for the humans in the area. Jubilation wonders why she ever joined Gambit's X-Ternals - a Robin Hood-like team operating against Apocalypse to help the persecuted humans in America. Suddenly, Guido Carosella and Sunspot, two more members of the X-Ternals, appear and assist Jubilee in destroying the Infinites. The three begin to make their way through the city, reaching the Temple of Human Redress, a place where humans can let their grievances be known to the ruling mutant class. The team arrives at a safehouse of the human resistance not far from the Temple. They begin to distribute the supplies to the sick and dying with the help of Lila Cheney, the human's liason with the X-Ternals. Lila, Jubilee, Guido, and Sunspot descend into a set of secret tunnels under the safehouse. These tunnels serve as a base of operations for the X-Ternals. Jubilee creates a spark to light the team's way, and they are surprised to see Magneto standing before them. The X-Ternals prepare for battle, threatening Magnus with death if he has hurt Gambit. Remy appears, telling the team that Erik has asked them to steal a certain jewel for them; the biggest in the universe.

Night falls as the Infinite patrol that fought the X-Ternals reach their base in Lower Manhatten. The soldiers nervously report to their commander, Julio Esteban Richter, that the X-Ternals have escaped again. Enraged, Richter tells them that the Horseman are meeting in Manhatten tonight, and that killing the X-Ternals would make him liable for promotion. He demands that his team make their kill tonight.

Back in the tunnels, Magnus, Gambit and the others trek deep into the heart of the city. Jubilee comments that it is strange being in an unfamiliar part of the tunnels and using Magneto's access codes. Erik is curious about Remy's relationship with Lila, to which Gambit replies that he, like everyone, needs love from someone. Sunspot finds the vent that Magneto told them leads to Apocalypse's Legendary Science Chamber. Roberto is worried that it may be a trap. Magnus admits that it could be, but doubts it, as Apocalypse's personal scientific librarian informed him of the chamber in the first place. He trusts the man, since he once saved his life. Lila finishes picking the lock to the vent, and it opens, revealing a massive room filled with wonderous technology. The team enters. Gambit is suspicious, as entering the facility has been too easy so far. His concerns prove worthy as a squad of Madri appear, grabbing Lila. She bites the arm of one soldier, as Gambit hurls kinetically charged knives at the other Madri. Guido and Jubiee execute a 'fast-ball special': Guido sends Jubilee flying into the group of enemies as she detonates the molecules of their clothing. Sunspot has found Peter Corbeau, the Librarian of the Science Chamber. Corbeau reveals that Magnus asked him to research a star cluster called the Shi'ar Galaxy. Corbeau used the Chamber, which is actually the remains of the now-destroyed Celestial Ship of Apocalypse, to reveal all the necessary information. Lila is shocked, as she realizes the jewel that Magneto wishes them to steal is in outer space!

Erik tells her that she will take the team to the Shi'ar Galaxy, as Corbeau produces a strange headset. The two put it on Lila, and Magneto tells her that she is actually a mutant who's powers have remained dormant. The headset will thrust her mind into the Chamber's navigational charts, and the majesty of the sight will cause her mutant powers to finally manifest. The plan works; Lila bursts with a newly-found strength. Gambit watches with wonder, recalling Magneto's plan, spoken to him earlier: they are to steal this jewel from the Shi'ar universe that is the focal point of all realities. With this, it will be possible to recreate the entire world without Apocalypse. Suddenly, Richter and his Infinites explode into the Chamber. Magneto orders Remy to protect Lila while she opens the spatial rift. The interstellar portal is opened, and Jubilee, Guido, Gambit, Sunspot, and Lila tumble through. Determined not to let the team escape, Richter leaps through after them, much to the despair of Erik. Corbeau orders Magneto to leave. Magnus apologizes, as he knows that this operation has cost Peter a chance to escape Earth and live in space. Corbeau doesn't care to hear Magnus speak, and he orders the Chamber to self-destruct. The clock ticks down as the two men exit and watch the vent close behind them.
