Factor-X #3
Synopsis by Jeff Harris:
In the Kennel, a sector of the pens that contains mutants with extreme degrees of animal physiognomy, a huge hybrid battles a large group of Infinites and Havok, who ends up having to be saved by Scott. He isn't terribly grateful after the revelation of the previous evening, and storms off on their own, while Scott bemoans his position and the tragedies that continue to occur around him.Outside the pens, a telepath and previous X-Man known as Jean Grey tries to break into the Pens herself, takes down McCoy's hound (perhaps Wolfsbane), but is blasted by Havok and taken away. In Heaven, the Bedlam Brothers arrive to inform Worthington of Scarlett's true identity as a spy for the Council, and although she tries to flee, it's hopeless. In the pens, Havok runs into his brother and takes him down to McCoy's lab, discovering Jean strung up and prepared for more of the Beast's gruesome experiments. Scott recognizes the woman, having prevented her escape and delivering her to sinister who later used both their DNA to form the ultimate mutant (see X-Man series again). Wolverine/Weapon X had come to her rescue though, and the two battled which ended with Scott losing an eye and Logan missing one of his hands. Havok reveals all he's learned about his brother's culpability in the prisoner breakouts, and when Scott refuses to execute Grey in order to prove he's loyal, the Guthries ambush him and McCoy straps him into his devices as well. Luckily, Jean later removes Scott's visor, allowing his uninhibited optic beams to shoot McCoy out of the way and let them escape. In the throne room of Apocalypse, Rex informs En Sabah Nur of Scott's betrayal, and Apocalypse responds by appointing Havok as the new commander and issuing the order to cull all the prisoners of the pens, and let the fittest survive.
