Powers & History: Dead Man Wade had an incredibly powerful artificial healing factor. Wade was implanted with his impressive healing factor as part of Apocalypse’s eugenics program. This healing factor made Wade nearly indestructible but had the side-effect of turning his skin to scar tissue. Apocalypse ordered Dead Man Wade to accompany Damask and her Pale Riders to find Avalon. During this trip, Dead Man Wade was continuously tortured by fellow Pale Rider Danielle Moonstar. Damask eventually killed Dani for this, something that shocked and saddened Wade, who might have had feelings for her. When Damask and Wade reached Avalon, he immediately hated how alive it was and proceeded to destroy it. He was finally stopped by Nightcrawler, who teleported Wade’s head clear off his body. It is unknown whether Dead Man Wade knew that he was harboring the entity known as the Shadow King during the journey, who may have been influencing his actions.
