Amazing X-Men #1
Synopsis by Jeff Harris:In the small port town of Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, an endless line of human refugees come in search for a purported chance of transport to Eurasia, where they can finally achieve freedom from the despotic madman known as Apocalypse who controls nearly the whole of America. The Graves family is among the weary travelers, and are approached by a mysterious hooded figure who seems to share their excitement and enthusiasm. Little do they know that the woman is actually the shape-shifting Copycat, in league with the Mutant Brotherhood of the Madri. In the meantime, Bishop is in Weschester witnessing the training exercises of one half of the X-Men. Quicksilver leads a team consisting of Iceman, Storm, Banshee and Exodus in battling a Sentinel as a practice for what they are planning when they arrive at the human evacuation in Maine. They hope to disable the Sentinel momentarily so they can inject an override disk into its systems that will cause it to register the X-Men as safe scans so that they can aid the evac without having to deal with the mutant-hunting robots. Quicksilver, isn't satisfied with his timing, but is coached and encouraged by the sixth member of the team, Dazzler, and Nanny, who keeps watch over Magneto's child Charles. Suddenly the Sentinel becomes active once again, and it is Magneto that is forced to intervene and destroy what proves to be one of Dazzler's holographic projections. They discuss the various missions the other factions of the team have been sent on, and then the method of transportation to be used to get to the evac site. It is at this point that Magnus reveals Exodus' potential as a teleporter, in addition to his already vast power supply, claiming to Bishop that he had feared Paris would become corrupted if he knew how much ability he truly had. Once the team arrives, Storm does her best to mess up the defense monitoring tower's systems in order to mask the Sentinels' approach, and just barely succeeds. Back on the coast, Jeremy, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Graves is abducted by an unknown assailant, and the X-Men are forced to improvise additions to their plan in order to fool the Sentinels while the insert the disk. Things seem to run smoothly as one of the Sentinels announes "mutants catalogued within vicinity are reclassified within shared datanet as safe-scans", but something is obviously wrong when they proceed to detect more mutant activity and seemingly destroy Bobby. The X-Men are at a loss as to what could have happened, until the Brotherhood shows up, containing the aforementioned Copycat, Spyne, Yeti, Arclight, and Box, who evidently cyberscrambled the disk's programming data to mask themselves rather than the X-Men from the Sentinels' sensors. Quicksilver realizes in horror that "Apocalypse and his men have been onto us from the beginning"...
