Cerebra's Files: 1602

Hulk

Full Name: David Banner
Affiliation: King James's Court
Powers & History: None as himself. As the creature- the additional strength that comes from his enhanced size.

David Banner was a member of King James' court, possibly some sort of advisor or assistant. The records aren't really clear. He remains\ed a largely passive figure in history until the very end of the year 1602.

After the newly-crowned King James captured Peter Parquagh and learned what Fury has done and where he has gone, he confronted Peter about his relationship with Fury. He gave Peter one chance to prove his loyalty to the king, if he agreed to hunt down Fury and assasinate him. James believed that Peter would be able to get close to Fury without triggering his suspicions in light of their former relationship. Banner was sent along on the mission to make sure it gets done, and presumably to kill Parquagh once Fury was dead.

Thanks to Carlos Javier, however, Fury was forewarned of their coming. At an opportune moment when both Parquagh and Banner are away from the landing party, Fury arrived and murdered all the soldiers - leaving the two men stranded in the new world.

Sometime later, Banner and Parquagh managed to track down Fury, immediately before Fury entered the gateway with Rojhaz, Banner attempted to get a shot at Fury with his crossbow but Virginia Dare, in the form of a dog, attacked him and keeps him off- guard long enough for Fury to get out of range.

At the very moment when Fury and Rojhaz entered the gateway, Banner threw down Parquagh and sheltered him from the blast with his own body. After the dust settles, Banner ran off in a daze. He was later seen (identifiable only by the remains of his clothing) lurking in the woods nearby, transformed into an enormous humanoid with green-gray skin.

This "Hulk" form (for so he called himself) eventually reverted back to the human Banner, who thought he had been dreaming at first, but then saw his footprints shrink in size. Despondent at having become exactly the kind of Witchbreed he had pursued and executed for years, Banner wandered into a herd of Brontosaurs. He found one trapped by a branch and tried to help it, unleashing the Hulk when his strength failed him. The herd seemed to "adopt" the Hulk, and he appreciated the animals' right to live. Later, the weather forced a stampede through Roanoke colony, and when Virginia Dare reacted by becoming a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Hulk jumped into her jaws to stop her. He was thrown off, and the English soldiers tried to arrest him. Hulk took it in stride, almost laughing as he returned to his human form, but then one of the Brontosaurs picked him up and carried him off, as it would a juvenile or a favorite branch.

Later, Banner contemplated suicide off a cliff, but Peter Parquagh, who had gained spider-like powers from a spider bite after the blast of Rojhaz's departure saved him and chastised him for his despair. Banner ended up in the company of the Roanoke Indians
