OktidFrom what we saw of the Oktid, they appear to have round shapes all over their skin (which appears to merge with their blue clothing), some of which seem to randomly bubble off into the air. They have two forward-set eyes, and a third similarly-shaped formation on their foreheads. Whether this is actually a "third eye" is unknown. Their noses are flat, with three nostril slits, and they have no external ears. Oktid have three fingers and an opposable thumb on each hand, and their digits are long and slender, with no indication of any bone structure under the skin. The Oktid live in a dimension with physical laws that are radically different from our own. The natural environment warps human senses, and wreaks havoc with mutant powers. For example, when Nightcrawler attempted to teleport, he went nowhere, but instead opened a portal out of which a tentacled monster emerged. The farther he tried to teleport, the larger the monster he summoned. Gambit's charged cards flew in wild directions, Professor X's astral form was supercharged, and Storm was actually able to channel the sentient forces that comprised the dimension. Passive powers like Shadowcat's and Marrow's did not seem affected. Even more intriguing is the fact that the Oktid are cognizant of the three beings who compose the fabric of their reality. Called the Trion, they appear in the form of a male, a female and a blocky androgyne. Storm, with her control of elements, was able to summon the Trion in the Oktid dimension and even used her abilities to mend tears in that reality. However, the Trion had a secret that Storm herself uncovered: in order to achieve harmony and perfection, the Trion removed all aspects of evil from themselves and contained it in a dark orb. This orb of malevolent energy would come back to haunt them. The X-Men were shanghaied to the Oktid dimension by Ejulp, a member of their race, in order to stop the Juggernaut, who had absorbed a second Gem of Cyttorak and was possessed by its evil. The Juggernaut was smashing through realities to reach the Trion, and Black Tom Cassidy (who had fallen through a dimensional rip his friend had made) suggested that the X-Men could help. Help they did, as Professor X convinced Cain Marko to wrest control of the Juggernaut power away from the Cyttorak avatar. Storm then revealed that the evil that had possessed Cain was the evil the Trion thought they had excised from their dimension, which they must now learn to deal with, lest it escape again and destroy them. Since the Oktid were basically created without any evil, just as ciphers to give the Trion's existence some meaning, the potential now exists for them to evolve into a vastly different culture. Whether that has happended, or whether the relationship between the Trion and the Oktid changed as a result is unknown. NOTE: The Trion's attempt to purge their evil had another effect, as the Avengers recently discovered. The dark orb created by the Trion captured all the evil except for one small fragment that escaped into our dimension. As if to maintain cosmic balance, three shard of light came into existence at the exact same moment. Two of these three shards would fall to Earth and eons later empower the 3-D Man and Triathlon, as well as Jonathan Tremont, founder of the Triune Understanding. The third shard was found by an alien who tried to use his incomplete power to destroy the evil fragment, but he was destroyed and the light shard was buried inside the much larger evil one. Over the millennia, the Trion's dark shard grew in size and power as it attacked and absorbed planets, ships and sentients. Years later, Jonathan Tremont realized (after exposure to the second light shard) that the darkness was on its way to Earth. Calling it the "Triple-Evil," Tremont founded the Triune Understanding to combat it, leading to the creation of the Avenger Triathlon (using the power of the 3-D Man) and the building of a starship that the Triunes planned to use to approach and stop the Triple-Evil. When the dark shard finally arrived at Earth, Tremont set off in the starship to attack it. He was soon joined by the Avengers, who were in the middle of fighting Kang and had lost their ship. Inside the Triple-Evil, the humans fought twisted versions of all the beings the shard had absorbed over the years. Tremont found the third light shard and absorbed its power, but was stopped by Trialthlon, who manifested the brothers who combined to form 3D-Man and absorbed all three shards. Triathlon then destroyed the evil in the dark shard, leaving only and empty pyramid-shape husk.
