D'Bari
The D'Bari were a green-skinned race that lived on the far side of the galaxy. They had five fingers and mops of stringy hair on the tops of their heads. The D'Bari appear to have been of slight build, and not especially strong even for their size.
Thousands of years ago, a D'Bari ship crashlanded on Earth near Greece. The pilot survived and hid in a cave. When humans inevitably found him, he stayed hidden in the shadows and used a ray gun to paralyze the intruders. The humans who escaped saw only the D'Bari's snake-like hair and their comrades "turned to stone," and thus began the legend of the Medusa. Years later, the same D'Bari used his ray gun to freeze the Avengers so he could use them to salvage his ship. Only new member Captain America was not in the blasts path, and he tracked down the disgused alien.
Unmasking the alien and hearing his story, Cap agreed to help, if the D'Bari would release his teammates. The Avengers pooled their powers to raise the ship from the depths, at which point the alien made the necessary repairs and blasted off. His departure was fortuitous for the Avengers, since it disrupted an Atlantean attack led by Namor.
Little else is known about the D'Bari, as their planet was destroyed years ago when Dark Phoenix ate their sun. Only a few D'Bari who were out of the solar system at the time survived. Wolverine met one such individual on the Collector's space station. Another D'Bari was so consumed by his rage at Phoenix that he developed a suit of armor with which to attack her. He got his opportunity when the Shi'ar Empire exiled all its criminals to Earth. Unfortunately for this so-called "Star Hammer," he was unable to defeat Phoenix, though she trapped him in a mental loop that made him think he had.
